Members of Roberts Means Roncevic Kapela Selected to 2020 Indiana Super Lawyers and Rising Stars Lists
It is with great pleasure that we announce that 4 of our lawyers have been honored with prestigious recognition. Attorneys Kena Hollingsworth and Jeffrey D. Roberts have been named to the 2020 Indiana Super Lawyers list, and Attorneys Genevieve Keegan-Bedano and Anne-Marie Briscoe were selected to the 2020 Indiana Rising Stars list. We are proud of our team for their achievements and their commitment to providing high-quality legal services to those facing family law and commercial law matters.
What Is the Selection Process for Super Lawyers and Rising Stars?
Being named to either the Super Lawyers or Rising Stars list is no easy feat. The process begins with nominations either by peers who have personally seen the attorney at work or by research. Super Lawyers closely monitors the submissions to prevent attorneys from nominating a peer in exchange for that peer's nomination of them. Additionally, lawyers are prohibited from asking or campaigning for nominations.
After the nominations are in, Super Lawyers then conducts independent research on each nominee and scores them based on 12 factors, which include areas such as experience, verdicts and settlements, honors and awards, and pro bono and community service. Not all indicators are given the same weight; some are scored higher than others.
The highest-scoring attorneys from the first and second steps are then invited to sit on a “blue ribbon” review panel, where they are asked to rate nominees in their area of practice on a 5-point scale.
Attorneys with the highest total scores from all 3 steps are then included on the Super Lawyers list. Only 5% of attorneys in the state are selected for inclusion.
To be named to the Rising Stars list, a lawyer must go through the same process as that for the Super Lawyers list, but to be eligible for Rising Stars, they must be 40 years old or younger and have been practicing law for 10 years or less.
